Sterling, CO – March 13, 2025 –

In a display of bravery and selflessness, officers from the Sterling Police Department answered call of duty during a life-threatening fire at the trailer park located at 413 Iris Dr. on March 13, 2025, just after midnight.

At approximately 12:10 AM, the Sterling Police Department responded to a distress call reporting a structure fire. Officers arrived at the scene with a heightened sense of urgency and were met with the terrifying sight of a trailer home engulfed in flames and thick smoke.

Officers quickly located the sole resident, 61-year-old male of Sterling, hanging out of a small window – a window far too small for him to escape through. Time was of the essence, and the officers immediately began working together in a coordinated effort to extricate the male from the perilous situation. Displaying incredible courage, the officers used breeching tools to try and enlarge the window, all while battling the intense heat and smoke.

Sterling Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after and assisted the officers in successfully removing the male from the burning trailer and extinguishing the fire. The victim sustained significant burns and was quickly transported to SRMC to receive additional medical care for his critical condition.
