A hit and run crash caused a semi-truck fire on Sunday afternoon just outside of Fort Morgan. It happened just before 1:30pm on the WB lanes of I-76 near exit 75, as the semi cab was fully engulfed when fire crew arrived.
According to the Colorado State Patrol the fire was the result of a hit and run crash caused by a blue-colored 3-axle box truck, that left the scene. It left behind some evidence though, as it’s lift gate fell off during the course of the crash at exit 75.
The interstate was closed as exit 79, as vehicles were detoured off the highway until the wreck could be cleared. No injuries are being reported with this incident, as it took a few hours to clear things out. WB I-76 reopened around 5:15 Sunday evening. The investigation continues.
