Fort Morgan Police Department -

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 8, the Fort Morgan Police Department received information that a male party, 37-year-old Chad Sindelar of Greeley, was heading to the Fort Morgan area, and he had a $500,000 cash-only bond out of Jefferson County. The pending warrant from Jefferson County was for: distribution of controlled substances, possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He also had a $1000 PR bond out of Weld County for drug paraphernalia and driving under restraint.

Sindelar was observed driving in the 600 Block of Lincoln and saw officers converging on him. He quickly jumped from his car and began running. A detective was able to catch up to him and get him to the ground, but Sindelar was able to get up and continue running.  Based on the location and the time of day, officers surrounded the area to keep Sindelar in the area, rather than chasing him toward a school that was in session.

After setting up a perimeter, officers began canvassing the neighborhood and discovered that Sindelar had made his way into a nearby residence of an innocent bystander who was present with her two children. Sindelar threatened and attempted to bribe the individuals in the home before leaving.

Fort Morgan Police Detectives applied for an arrest warrant for Sindelar on numerous charges, including:

  • Second-degree burglary

  • Criminal Extortion

  • Menacing

  • Obstructing a peace officer

  • Driving after revocation is prohibited

  • Expired registration

On Friday, May 23, Chad Sindelar was located at his home in Greeley and barricaded himself inside. He was taken into custody by the local police agency on warrants from Jefferson County, Weld County, and Morgan County.

*All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement, and all parties must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
