Boggess trial has been continued to April 2027

The first-degree murder trial of Clifton Boggess has been continued again. The trial, originally scheduled to begin November 2 in Yuma County District Court in Wray, will now take place April 5th through the 23rd, 2027.

District Attorney Travis Sides confirmed the latest continuance was requested by the defense. The case was initially scheduled for trial in May, but proceedings were postponed during jury selection after newly discovered evidence emerged.

Boggess faces five charges in connection with the 2023 disappearance and death of 25-year-old Britani Meek, including first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased body, second-degree kidnapping, motor vehicle theft, and third-degree assault.

Meek disappeared on October 25th, 2023. Her car was found in rural Yuma County in November, and her body was discovered buried at a farm east of Yuma. An autopsy later confirmed her identity.

63-year-old Boggess was identified as a suspect and arrested in Lake Placid, Florida, after a search involving local law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Marshals Service. He was later extradited to Colorado.

The trial is now scheduled to begin April 5th and run through April 23rd.
