Yuma Law Enforcement Talk Subject Out From Under Residence

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office –
On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 16th, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received regarding a protection order violation. The subject of the report had a warrant out for his arrest, with reports that he was inside the protected party’s residence, substantiated by video.
Deputies arrived with an obtained consent to search the residence but couldn’t locate the suspect. Closer examination revealed a hole in the floor, covered by an end table. It was a crawl space that could not be seen from the outside. Deputy Trace Comb located the suspect hiding in the concealed crawl space by a support beam. The subject was making suicidal threats while holding a board with a nail through it. He stated he was going to burn the place down with a torch & gasoline.
Attempts to get him to come out failed, as the Yuma County SPEAR Team responded including members of the Yuma Police Department. Sergeant Wells of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office finally talked the suspect out of the crawl space after building a rapport with him.
Following evaluations and being medically cleared at the Yuma District Hospital, he was placed into custody. He was held at the Washington County jail and charged with violation of a protection order, felony trespass, resisting arrest & obstruction, pending advisement.
