Woman, 82, Dies After Sustaining Burns in Pearl Street Incident

One of the people who was burned in the Pearl Street Mall firebombing attack from June 1st has died. Eighty-two-year-old Karen Diamond was participating with the group ‘Run for Their Lives’ in a walk when the group was attacked by 45-year-old Mohamed Soliman, the man accused in the Pearl Street attack. She passed away because of her injuries.
The Boulder District Attorney’s Office is filing additional charges against Soliman, including first-degree murder. He was recently indicted on nine counts of hate crime, along with other charges dealing with carrying and using an explosive device during the commission of a felony.
There were 29 total victims, including 13 injuries. Soliman faces 2 counts of first-degree murder, as well as 52 counts of attempted first-degree murder. In addition, there are 8 counts of first-degree assault, 18 counts of attempted first-degree assault, along with several other charges, including 2 counts of third-degree assault & using an incendiary device and animal cruelty. Diamond’s family has asked for privacy during this time.
