It was a wild day of weather across the Front Range and Northeast Colorado on Monday, as a line of severe thunderstorms dropped rain and hail over a large region.

The storms kicked up in the Denver area around 3 pm and grew rapidly as they traveled north and east throughout the afternoon and evening. About 900 flights were delayed at DIA due to the severe weather.

As the system moved into the northeastern plains, heavy rain, quarter-sized hail, lightning, and strong winds reduced visibility in many areas, and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Weld, Morgan, Adams, and Washington Counties between 4 and 7 pm (MDT).

Morgan County had a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:45 pm, Washington until 6:45, and Logan County until 7. A couple of tornado warnings were issued for portions of Washington, Lincoln, and Elbert Counties, and the area remained under a tornado watch until 9 pm. There were no initial reports of any damage caused by the storms, as they traveled at around 20- 25 mph.

The line of weather made its way to Sedgwick, Phillips, and Yuma Counties between 7 and 8 pm, with a tornado warning issued near Eckley until 7:45. The severe thunderstorm warnings lasted until 8:30 pm, and were allowed to expire, as the system moved into Kansas and Nebraska by 9.
