Trash truck load catches fire in Sterling - Driver had to dump garbage on the street - Fire crews respond - No one hurt
Sterling Public Works and the Sterling Fire Department - An important safety message: A City of Sterling trash truck load caught fire this morning. The driver had to dump the entire load in the middle of the street to prevent the fire from spreading to the truck. The Sterling Fire Department was on scene. Everyone is safe.
Please do NOT put flammable or combustible materials in your trash. Items such as gasoline, propane tanks, fuel, oil, lighter fluid, and other hazardous or flammable materials can ignite inside a garbage truck and put our drivers, crews, and the public at serious risk.
If you are unsure how to properly dispose of an item, please contact the City before putting it in your trash.
One improperly disposed item can put an entire truck, our employees, and nearby residents in danger. Please help us keep our crews and the public safe.
