Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office- A burglary suspect was taken into custody Monday morning, June 1, after members of the Northeast Colorado Regional SWAT Team executed a felony arrest warrant at a residence in Julesburg.
The operation took place at a home in the 500 block of West Second Street and was connected to the investigation of a recent burglary at the local Dollar General store.
Authorities say the multi-agency SWAT team moved into position early Monday morning with support from law enforcement, fire, and emergency personnel from across northeastern Colorado. A drone was used to monitor the property before officers made their approach, and two armored vehicles were deployed during the operation.
According to officials, officers issued commands for the suspect to surrender. Elvis Fausnaught exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators then conducted a search of the property. Methamphetamine, cocaine, and stolen property were found during their search.
The Northeast Colorado Regional SWAT Team was formed in 2021 to serve communities throughout Colorado’s 13th Judicial District and routinely works with local and regional agencies during high-risk operations.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the investigation, which is ongoing, or any formal charges. As with all criminal cases, the suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
