Sterling Fire Department Responds to Wind-Driven Fire Near the Sports Complex

Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4pm the Sterling Fire Department responded to a large, wind-driven grass fire at the Logan County Shooting Sports Complex. The fire was reported southeast of the southeast property line near the Tallgrass pipeline scar. Multiple agencies assisted in helping to extinguish the blaze, and at about 5pm the fire was out, and crews were in mop up mode. High winds blew across the area Wednesday, prompting the Logan County landfill to close for most of the day.

The weather system coming into the region today will bring a 70-80% of precipitation in the form of rain and/or snow this afternoon and heading into Friday.
