Crews from the Sterling Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Saturday, where there was a little something extra to deal with. The call came in around 1 am on Saturday, August 23rd, for a vehicle fire in the area of County Road 26 and Edith Avenue.

Once they arrived, fire crews were able to get the blaze under control. However, during the response, one of the vehicle’s rear gas-struts exploded as a result of the fire. It was forceful enough to lodge itself into the roof and hatch of the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured during the entire incident. A reminder of how gas struts can be a bit dangerous in a situation like this.

Units that responded include Station 1, Engine 12, and Medic 3. Once the fire was out, Sterling Firefighters were able to complete mop-up operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
