Rescue crews and law enforcement responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-76 near the Highway 52 exit (Exit 80) on Tuesday afternoon, just after 3:30 pm.

The crash happened on the eastbound side of I-76 between MM 79 & 80, just before the exit to Main Street, north of Fort Morgan.

The driver of the car was unresponsive and was trapped inside the vehicle until First Responders arrived. The driver was extracted, and CPR was performed on the driver, who started breathing and responded to the crew before being taken to the hospital.

The left lane was blocked during the incident, causing slow traffic at that location. The vehicle took out 50 yards of heavy-duty safety cable in the median of the interstate, separating the two sides of the highway. CDOT was contacted for repairs of the cable guardrail. Fire crews cleared the scene around 5:15 pm, with some emergency vehicles remaining on-scene while clean-up continued.

The extent of the injuries to the driver of the crashed vehicle is unknown, as the incident is under investigation.
