Semi Hauling a Trailer Hit a Parked Weld County Sheriff Vehicle on I-25 in Northern Colorado

PRESS RELEASE: CSP - The morning of Wednesday, October 15, at approximately 4:13 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a crash involving a semi hauling a trailer and a parked Weld County Sheriff’s Office Patrol vehicle.
A Weld County Deputy was parked on the right shoulder behind an unoccupied Nissan Rogue, waiting for a tow after a DUI arrest. A semi struck the deputy’s patrol vehicle.
The Weld County Deputy was transported to a local area hospital. The extent of the deputy’s injuries is currently unknown. The semi driver did not report any injuries.
The Colorado State Patrol Hazmat Unit responded for a fuel leak due to the crash.
The semi ran off the road into a ditch between Interstate 25 and Frontage Road. Only one southbound lane of Interstate 25 was open near milepost 236. Drivers experienced significant delays through the morning commute and were urged to use alternate routes.
The Colorado State Patrol was in charge of the crash investigation.
