As another offer from the parent company of Safeway & Albertsons was rejected by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 late last week, more stores are now on strike. That includes the Safeway located in Fort Morgan, which joined the effort as of Sunday, June 22nd.

Negotiations continued as of last week, but following numerous proposals, the UFCW Local 7 said that Albertson’s, Safeway’s owner, didn’t make an offer that the workers could agree upon. The strike has rolled out slowly across Colorado, with more and more stores joining in.

There are no further negotiations scheduled for now, as the strike expanded Sunday at 6 am. The union represents around 23,000 members in both Colorado and Wyoming, as some of the key issues that workers want addressed are for better wages, improved staffing levels, along with protections of health and pension benefits for workers.
