Fire crews from Wiggins and Fort Morgan responded to a call of a grass fire in the 9000 block of County Road 10, south of Sandy Hills Dairy. The call came in on Wednesday, May 27, during the midday timeframe, around 12:15. With the dry conditions across the region, the multiple agency response is normal.

As the first crews arrived on scene, it was quickly determined that this was a controlled burn. At 12:25, the call went out for the other crews enroute to stand down.

Just another reminder, if you are performing a controlled burn on your property, alert your local fire department, so that these agencies don’t unnecessarily respond.

It was a much-needed rainy Wednesday (May 27) across Northeast Colorado, as the region received a decent amount of moisture from the many rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

It was just the kind of weather that was needed for the area, lots of rain, some lightning, but most important, no severe weather. Some of the storms brought little hail with them, but there are no reports of any kind of damage or troubles related to the Wednesday weather.

The system moved northwest throughout the afternoon and evening, as many people were waking up to wet roads. Denver International Airport did issue a ground delay around 4 pm, with low visibility, but lifted it around 6 pm.

There are various chances for showers and thunderstorms over the next several days, with temps in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.
