Murder Case Crosses State Lines: Missouri Investigation, Colorado Indictment

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office assisted in serving an indictment to a man in connection with a murder in Missouri.
On Friday, July 18th, 2025, following a 911 call, first responders arrived on the scene of a residence in Robertsville, Missouri, and located a male victim who suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Jared Bodine of Robertsville, Missouri. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Detectives from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were actively investigating this incident as a homicide and requested information from the public related to it. As the investigation continued, Franklin County Sheriff’s Detectives traveled to Morgan County & Sedgwick County in Colorado to follow up on leads they had received in the case.
As a result, on Wednesday, August 13th, 40-year-old Zachery J. Pankonin was served with a no-bond indictment out of Julesburg, Colorado, for First-degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action.
The investigation remains ongoing, as no further information will be released to the public. Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton thanked Morgan County Sheriff Dave Martin and Sedgwick County Sheriff Koby Quayle for their assistance in the investigation.
