Multiple Fire Agencies Assist wiht Blaze

At 4pm Sunday, July 28th, the New Raymer/Stoneham Fire Protection District was dispatched to Hwy 71 at MM 218 for a large ground cover fire. Mutual aid was requested enroute, and quickly called for additional units upon arrival. About 10 agencies with 20 plus apparatus responded to assist battle this large, wind driven fire. Crews did an outstanding job controlling this fire which changed direction multiple times. The fire was measured at just over 1,800 acres. Without our mutual aid, we would have lost this fire, and much more than pastureland.

Merino Volunteer Fire Department - Sterling Fire Department - Briggsdale Fire Protection District - Pawnee Fire Protection District - Kimball Fire Department - Bushnell Fire Department - Peetz Fire/Rescue - Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control & Weld County Emergency Management all responded to assist.
