Working together, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the Arvada Police Department in order to locate Andrew Ortiz, a suspect involved in one of their cases.

On Friday, June 20th, a body warrant was executed for him, which allows agencies to search a house or property to look for a suspect. Andrew Ortiz is the suspect in an attempted murder case from the Arvada Police Department. He was also on parole for a second-degree murder conviction, as both Parole and the Arvada Police Department had received separate warrants.
Both the Northeast Regional SWAT Team and the Jefferson County Regional SWAT Team were requested to assist in the execution of the warrants for Ortiz’s arrest, due to his criminal history and the fact that he was believed to be armed. Both SWAT Teams arrived at a house located in the 30000 block of Morgan County Road O at 1 pm on Friday. After being called out, Ortiz came out peacefully & surrendered to officers without incident. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail before being transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.
He is being held on his outstanding warrants.
