The Morgan County Golden Stars held their big fund-raising event for the year last weekend, as the Morgan County Fairgrounds were packed with people from all over on Saturday night. The Morgan County Golden Stars are a coalition of local volunteers dedicated to making a difference to children, senior citizens and military veterans in Morgan County. Volunteers assist with their various programs and fundraisers, especially at Christmastime.
Saturday evening, they had 23 live auction items, with 73 separate items and gift baskets, 43 gift cards or certificates, as well as a silent auction and generous donations also. In speaking with Jill Olsen, the total they raised was over $50,000, and all that money will stay in Morgan County. They have helped over 900 kids and 300 families through their efforts, and they can use your help. Their slogan is ‘Spreading the Spirit of Kindness’, and your monetary donations go a long way to help with that.
You can help by mailing checks to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at 801 E. Beaver Avenue, Fort Morgan, Colorado 80701. (Just mark Morgan County Golden Stars in the Memo line.) They could also use volunteer assistance with wrapping up all of the fine new toys & clothing at their new location for the holidays this year at the Old Smirk’s Building at 17601 US HWY 34 in Fort Morgan. They operate Monday through Friday between 10am and 5pm. For more specific information check out their Facebook page, under the name Morgan County Golden Stars.
