The skies above Fort Morgan will come alive this Memorial Day at 10:00 AM as a special flyover honors our nation’s veterans and fallen heroes at the annual Memorial Day observance at Riverside Cemetery.
The event, organized by Fort Morgan American Legion Post 19 in collaboration with the 120th Fighter Squadron from Buckley Space Force Base, aims to pay tribute to those who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country. The flyover will feature a formation of four F-16 fighter jets from the 140th Wing. Spectators will experience an emotional thrill as they witness the impressive sight and thunderous sound that showcases the skill and dedication of our armed forces.
The American Legion invites the community to come together for this annual remembrance and celebration with speaker City Councilman Bill Garcia at the north side of Riverside Cemetery. The occasion also features the American Legion Honor Guard, who will provide “Taps” and a 21-gun salute. Attendees are encouraged to bring flags, banners, and signs to show their support and gratitude.
Because there is no permanent seating at the site, camp chairs are recommended. “Our Memorial Day flyover is a powerful way to honor the courage and sacrifice of our veterans,” said Air Force Veteran Ed Zorn, organizer of the flyover event for the American Legion. “We are grateful for the opportunity to unite as a community with this special occasion and pay our respects to those who have served our nation.”
In addition to the Memorial Day ceremony, American Legion Post 19 members and volunteers line Riverside Cemetery with small American flags every year. The American Legion Auxiliary will conclude the annual ceremony with a wreath dedicated to our fallen heroes cast from Rainbow Bridge into the South Platte River.
Join us this Memorial Day as we honor our heroes with a spectacular flyover that promises to be a memorable and moving tribute. #AFFlyover
