KFTM Sports Update 11/6/23

Congratulations to Weldon Valley and Wiggins volleyball teams as they qualified for the State tournament with regional championships over the weekend. The Lady Warriors defeated Hi-Plains on Friday, three sets to one, while the Tigers rolled Grand Valley and Denver Christian in three on Saturday. The regional championship for the Tigers is their sixth straight under head Coach Michelle Baker. During their current run, Wiggins is (12-0) and has won all 36 of the sets played.


Coverage of the 2023 State Volleyball tournament in Denver gets underway on Thursday across the Media Logic Radio Network. Weldon Valley is in as an 11 seed and takes on fifth ranked Idalia at 11am, while the top ranked Wiggins Tiger await the winner of Meeker and Ignacio at 2pm. In the opening round of the state football playoffs Saturday, Brush lost at Rifle (21-14) and Wiggins fell at Banning Lewis (21-2). The Diggers finished their year (6-4), while the Tigers ended the season (5-5).
