It was a busy weekend for local sports as the fall season continues to wind down. First up on Friday, Brush volleyball lost in three at the Valley Vikings, while Weldon Valley swept through the Bulldogs in Peetz. The Lady Diggers next host Prairie tomorrow night at 6pm with the Lady Warriors also at home against Haxtun at 5pm.
Brush football lost their matchup with University in a battle of Patriot East league unbeatens. The Bulldogs got the better of the Diggers in a final of (30-15). Brush closes out their regular season on Friday at Timnath at 7pm.
Wiggins was doubled up on the road at Limon (42-21) and Weldon Valley lost at Peetz (55-6). The Tigers travel to Wray for a big matchup with the Eagles on Friday at 7pm.
Congratulations to the Wiggins boys cross country team who qualified for state on Saturday. The State competition will be held this Saturday at Norris Penrose Park in Colorado Springs.
Wiggins and Fort Morgan volleyball participated in weekend tournaments in Sterling and Johnstown. The Lady Tigers lost to Sterling and Alamosa (2-0), but handed the Merino Rams their first loss of the season (2-1) and closed out the day with a (two sets to none) win over Lamar. Wiggins plays their final match up the regular season on Friday at Wray starting at 4pm.
For the Lady Mustangs, they lost their first two against Mountain View and Riverdale ridge, before they bounced back with a win over Skyline and then lost their finale in five to Northridge. Fort Morgan ends the year with a record of (7-16).
