Fort Morgan and Brush finished in the top ten at the Mel Smith Invite in Florence over the weekend. The Mustangs were 10th and had Cristofer Juan and Ashtyn Meeks take second with Noah Aguire in fourth at 175. The Diggers were runners up behind tournament champion Cedaredge. Nick Dardanes, Ritcher Bruno and Cole Curtis all won the title, with TJ Rivera second, Austin Ley fourth, and Tanner Ludgate fifth.
Both teams are off until Friday when they compete at another two day tournament. Fort Morgan is at the Berthoud Invite, while Brush heads to Centaurus High School for the Top of the Rockies.
Wiggins wrestling took 10th place at their home invitational on Saturday. The Lady Tigers finished 9th and Lady Mustangs were seventh. The Fort Morgan girls are scheduled to wrestle again this afternoon at Mead JV night at 3pm.
On the hardwood, Weldon Valley was swept at home Saturday by the Briggsdale Falcons. The Lady Warriors lost (70-31) and the boys fell in a final of (69-36). Brush boys lost at Weld Central (66-25) and the Lady Diggers were defeated (42-36) also on Saturday. Weldon Valley is home to Lone Star tomorrow night at 5:30pm while Brush battles Frontier Academy.
