Hot and Dry Conditions Require Caution

With the hotter summer temperatures comes the risk of wildfires. As vegetation dries out, the chances can increase for fires to start and spread rapidly. Please take extra caution at this time of year and be aware of the dry conditions across the region. Fireworks are fun, but they can be the number one source of accidental fires. The best thing to do is let the experts handle the fireworks displays for the 4th of July holiday. There have been multiple reports of grass fires across the plains over the last few weeks, as there was a report of a fire in Washington County on CR-54 north of Akron, and a fire south of Wiggins near CR-O. It IS a reminder to be careful and use extreme caution as the summer season progresses.
