NWS - HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FOR THIS EVENING. Between 5 PM this afternoon & midnight MST tonight. For Weld-Morgan-Logan Counties in Colorado. Including the cities of Stoneham, Fort Morgan, Peetz, Briggsdale, Goodrich, Raymer, Crook, Wiggins, Sterling, Grover, Pawnee Buttes, Merino, and Brush. Northwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, and a few power outages may result. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

 

HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM MST /6 PM CST/ THIS AFTERNOON TO 5 PM MST /6 PM CST/ THURSDAY. For Yuma-Kit Carson-Cheyenne-Rawlins-Decatur-Norton-Sherman-Thomas-Sheridan-Graham-Wallace-Logan-Gove-Greeley-Wichita-Dundy-Hitchcock & Red Willow Counties in Colorado and the tri-state area. Northwest winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected. Plumes of blowing dust will create pockets of low visibility. Visibility will likely change rapidly over short distances, making travel hazardous in these areas. Two rounds of strong winds are forecast. The first is Wednesday evening as a front passes, the second is shortly after sunrise Thursday morning. Do not lower your guard due to the brief lull in the winds!

**RED FLAG WARNING issued for the same area in Colorado & the tri-state region. From 7 AM MST /8 AM CST/ to 5 PM MST /6 PM CST/ Thursday. RELATIVE HUMIDITY as low as 18 percent. Explosive fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control. Comply with burn bans and regulations. Avoid driving on dry grass or brush. Maintain vehicle brakes and tires, and secure tow chains to avoid dragging. Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.
