On Friday, June 20th, the Yuma Police Department received reports of a suspicious vehicle. The driver was reportedly asking individuals where he could hide the vehicle and trailer he was operating. Officers responded to the scene and attempted to contact the vehicle.
Upon approach, the suspect fled at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit. The vehicle headed westbound on Highway 34 toward Washington County, reaching speeds of approximately 95 miles per hour. During the pursuit, the suspect endangered the public by driving into the eastbound lanes, forcing oncoming vehicles onto the shoulder to avoid collision.
Law enforcement successfully deployed stop sticks, which disabled the vehicle. The suspect then drove into a wheat field where the vehicle came to a stop, and officers were able to take the driver into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Ethan Cory Dudash, also known as Cody Crow. Dudash was found to have an active felony warrant out of Lakewood. The vehicle – a dark-colored Ford dually pickup towing a black dump trailer – was confirmed to be stolen out of Arvada.
Dudash is now facing multiple charges related to the pursuit, stolen vehicle, and outstanding warrant.
If you witnessed this pursuit or were one of the drivers forced to the shoulder by the suspect, please contact the YUMA POLICE DEPARTMENT at 970-848-5441.
