PRESS RELEASE: City of Fort Morgan - The City of Fort Morgan’s Annual Spring Cleanup Program has been scheduled for April 11 through April 19 this year.
During this program, city residents can place many unwanted items in their alleys (or
curbside for homes without alley access) that would normally incur an additional charge
for special pickup. In the weeks that follow, crews will pick up these trash items at no
charge to residents within city limits.
You must be a residential city sanitation customer to participate in the program.
Contractors and businesses are not permitted.
Please note the following program requirements:
· Items must be placed in the alley, be clearly marked and kept from blowing
away. Please place items in dumpsters or rollouts if they fit, and do not put out
small items that can fit in a dumpster or rollout container.
· Areas without alley access may place items behind the curb or in the parking
area of the street leaving the gutter clear for drainage.
· TREES ARE NOT ALLOWED. Entire trees cannot be cut down and placed out
for the cleanup. Only trimmings of brush or small branches are permitted and
must be placed in a separate pile.
· Place metal items in a separate pile.
· Properly cover, secure and/or wrap loose/light items to minimize blowing away.
· Batteries and used motor oil can be disposed of by taking them to Central Auto
Parts, The Auto Zone, Carquest or O’Reilly Auto Parts.
· Please be advised that cleanup crews will NOT go on private property.
· All items must be placed out for pickup by April 19 in order to be picked up. It is
expected to take several weeks after that date for crews to complete pickup of
trash for the entire city.
The following items are not allowed in the free program: tires, cans of paint or other
hazardous chemicals including motor oil, railroad ties, refrigerators, freezers or air
conditioner units. Electronics such as TVs, computers, copy machines, fax
machines, DVD or VCR players, video game consoles or any other type of
electronics are not allowed and must be recycled.
Additionally, this program is not available to contractors or businesses.
This program ends for residents on April 19, 2026. Nothing is to be placed in the
alleys outside of designated dumpsters or by curbs after this date or customers will be
charged for service.
If you have any questions, please contact the city Sanitation Department at 970-542-3987. It
is not necessary to call when you have placed items out for pickup, as crews will find
them as they work their way through the city.
