RED FLAG WARNING issued for most of Northeast Colorado for Friday as dry conditions continue across the region - rains & cooler temps for the weekend

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM Friday to 8 PM (MDT) Friday night. This is for most of Northeast Colorado, including Weld, Adams, Arapahoe, Elbert, Lincoln, Morgan, Washington, Yuma, Kit Carson, and Cheyenne Counties in Colorado.

**This does NOT include Logan, Sedgwick, and Phillips Counties in Colorado.**

• WINDS out of the northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

• RELATIVE HUMIDITY levels as low as 7-12 percent.

• Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire.

• Comply with burn bans and regulations. Avoid driving on dry grass or brush. Maintain vehicle brakes and tires, and secure tow chains to avoid dragging. Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.

*A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. The Fire Weather Watch for Colorado is no longer in effect.

* Dry lightning is possible today and tomorrow, mainly during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Winds are forecast to be the strongest starting during the early afternoon and peaking during the mid to late afternoon hours. The relative worst and longest duration of the conditions are forecast to be west of Highway 385. There is a less than 10% chance of dry lightning or virga leading to erratic wind gusts during the late afternoon hours.

There is a good chance of rain showers across the area for the weekend.
