One Evergreen High School student remains in critical condition this morning after Wednesday’s shooting that left two classmates injured and the teenage gunman dead.
Dr. Brian Blackwood of St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood said one victim is stable and was transferred to another facility last night. The suspected shooter, who has not been publicly identified, died after turning the gun on himself.
Deputies were on scene within minutes of the 12:24 p.m. 911 call, according to Sheriff Reggie Marinelli. Investigators searched the suspect’s home near Kittredge Wednesday evening and are reviewing his locker, car, and social media.
Evergreen High and eight nearby schools are closed through the week. A resource center with counselors and victim advocates is open today and tomorrow at Bergen Meadow Elementary for students, families, and community members.
