UPDATE: National Weather Service - *A RED FLAG WARNING in effect from 11 AM to 9 PM MDT Tuesday for wind and low relative humidity for the plains of northeastern Colorado. This includes Douglas, Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Elbert, Weld, Morgan, Lincoln, Logan, Washington, Sedgwick, Phillips, Yuma, Kit Carson, and Cheyenne counties in Colorado.

  • WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

  • RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 9-15 percent.

Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire. Comply with burn bans and regulations. Avoid driving on dry grass or brush. Maintain vehicle brakes and tires and secure tow chains to avoid dragging. Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.

*A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The NWS has also issued a Fire Weather Watch for Wednesday, June 10, across the same region. Stay tuned for updates on possible Red Flag Warnings.
