***WCSO Press Release*** - Weld County Sheriff’s Office:
On Wednesday, September 24, 21-year-old Debisa Ephraim was arrested again by the Greeley Police Dept. with the help of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office STRIKE team. Debisa was arrested on a warrant issued by the University of Northern Colorado Police alleging:
• Unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds-Felony
• Trespass 1 Inhabited Dwelling-Felony
“I knew this would happen. I am glad no one was hurt,” said Sheriff Steve Reams.
** Debisa Ephraim was released from the Weld County jail on Monday, September 8th, by Colorado statute. Competency was raised in two of his criminal cases, and the courts found in July of this year that his competency could not be restored; therefore, he would not be able to stand trial. This stems from a loophole in the law, due to HB 24-1034, which was signed into law by Governor Jared Polis. It’s very possible that Debisa could be released from jail again, due to this loophole.
