Colorado may be seeing a downward trend in the number of violent crimes and car thefts. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is currently totaling the state’s crime statistics for 2023, with data available through the month of November. The CBI shows a total of just over 32,oo0 violent crimes in 2022. In 2023, that number was less than 27,000. Assault is the top violent crime for the state. As for car theft, there were 12,000 fewer cars stolen in 2023 than the year before. Again, these numbers from the CBI are based on data through November of 2023.
