Authorities in Utah are continuing their manhunt for the person believed to have fatally shot Charlie Kirk during a public event at Utah Valley University. Officials say a single, high-powered bolt-action rifle was recovered Wednesday night in a wooded area near the campus, wrapped in a towel.
Law enforcement describes the suspect as college-age, dressed in dark clothing, and firing from a rooftop before fleeing into a nearby neighborhood. Photos of a “person of interest” have been released; authorities are asking the public to help identify him.
The shooting occurred on Wednesday during an outdoor Turning Point USA event, where Charlie Kirk was speaking to a crowd of about 3,000. Kirk was struck in the neck and later pronounced dead. Leaders across the political spectrum have condemned the killing. The FBI and state safety officials say the investigation is ongoing and are urging anyone with photos, videos or information to come forward.
