Law enforcement officials recently discovered the remains of 49 year-old Suzanne Morphew, missing since May 10, 2020 whose disappearance sparked a yearlong search and embroiled her husband 55 year-old Barry Morphew in an ongoing legal battle. Colorado Bureau of Investigation agents located human remains in the area of Moffat in Saguache County on Friday, September 22, during an unrelated investigation, according to an announcement from the agency. Moffat is a town of approximately 100 people located 45 miles south of Maysville, where Morphew lived and was last seen before she was reported missing by a neighbor on Mother’s Day in 2020.
The discovery of Suzanne Morphew’s body more than three years after the 49-year-old mother disappeared from her Chaffee County home could be the key to unraveling the mystery of what happened to her — but the dropped prosecution of her husband thrusts the case into complicated legal territory.
Again, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has set up a tip line (and email) for the Suzanne Morphew investigation. The public is asked to report any information about this case by (sending an email to cdps_suzannemorphew_tipline@state.co.us or) by calling 719-312-7530.
