Camper Fire Spreads to Two Structures in Sterling

Sterling Fire Department -
Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th, Station 1 was dispatched to a camper fire in the 500 block of Elwood Street. En route, dispatch updated that the fire had spread to a nearby structure.Fire 1 arrived on-scene, reporting a camper with heavy fire that had spread to two adjoining structures.
Multiple lines were deployed to the camper and both homes. Crews searched both residents and found no parties inside. Multiple animals were found and removed. The fire had spread to the exterior of both homes and into the attic. Crews completed an extensive overhaul on both homes.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was cleared at Sterling Regional Medical Center. The Merino Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to cover the city. The cause is currently under investigation by our fire investigators and the Sterling Police Department.
