Brush Police Department -

On Sunday evening, April 6th, officers initiated a traffic contact on a vehicle from a previous call for service that was reported early Thursday morning (4/3) where an anonymous caller stated the driver of a 2008 white Chevrolet pickup was traveling westbound on I-76 into Morgan County, and the vehicle contained Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Firearms. Over the weekend, Brush Police Officers located the vehicle parked at a residence. Through investigation, the officers learned the temporary license plate was fictitious. When the officers initiated the contact on Sunday evening, they contacted the driver, 36-year-old Stephan Waller. This is the same subject that was reported driving the vehicle from the call for service the previous Thursday morning. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Dyllon Kahrs.

K9 Officer Dusty Quick from FMPD and K9 Ripp were requested to assist the BPD officers. Throughout the investigation, K9 Ripp positively alerted for the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Officers found approximately 50 Fentanyl pills, Methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia which indicated narcotic distribution. Kahrs also had several Fentanyl pills on his person.

The vehicle, a 2008 white Chevrolet pickup, was found to be a confirmed vehicle stolen out of Aurora, and the temporary license plate was confirmed to be fictitious. Waller, who has an extensive and violent criminal history, is being held at the Morgan County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond for charges including Motor Vehicle Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Forgery, and Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Kahrs is being held on a $5,000 bond for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia.

Later in the evening, Officers were patrolling the Loves truck stop where they located another stolen vehicle that was reported out of Sedgwick County over the weekend. This was a 1986 Chevrolet pickup that was reported stolen early Friday morning between midnight and 2am, from a residence in Julesburg, as reported by the Sedgwick County’s Sheriff’s Office. The classic long-bed truck has been returned to its owner.

Also, over the weekend, BPD officers made 5 other arrests for both misdemeanor and felony charges. This is an excellent example of proactive policing and teamwork. The Brush PD thanks the FMPD and K9 Officer Quick and K9 Ripp for their assistance!
