CBI to investigate officer-involved shooting - motorcycle driver dead

A driving complaint in Logan County Tuesday afternoon, August 18, led to an officer-involved shooting that left a motorcycle driver dead.
With information from a press release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:28 p.m. to a report of a motorcycle near County Road 55 and Interstate 76, near Crook.
Four sheriff’s deputies were involved in the shooting.
The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was also found near the motorcyclist’s body.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, while the deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave, as required by department policy.
The CBI Strategic Communications Director says the original complaint was for speeding. He says few additional details are available while the investigation remains active.
The identity of the motorcycle driver is being withheld until relatives are notified.
The Logan County Coroner’s Office will release more information at a later time.
