Washington County Sheriff’s Office –
On Wednesday, August 28th, at approximately 3pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office. Stating that they found the pickup truck belonging to Jared Rozell Shook near the Seibert area. A short time later the body of Jared Shook was found.
Jared had been reported missing since Friday, August 23rd, after he had left his home near Akron, Colorado, driving his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The Kit Carson County coroner took over the scene where the body was found to conduct their own investigation. Foul play is NOT suspected in this case, and there is no threat to the public. No further details are being released at this time. The Yuma Police Department also assisted in this case.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jared Shook on Wednesday, September 4th, at 11am at the Akron Foursquare Church at 901 East 1st Street in Akron, Colorado. The Shook family requests that any charitable donations be made to the Akron Volunteer Fire Department.
