Arrests Made for Multiple Cases of Sexual Exploitation of a Child

PRESS RELEASE: Sterling Police Department - Sterling, CO – August 5, 2026
On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Officers with the Sterling Police Department Patrol and Investigations
Unit arrested two male suspects in two separate, unrelated, and ongoing cases
involving internet luring and sexual exploitation of a child.
In early July of this year, Sterling Police Department detectives began investigating two
separate cases involving different suspects, upon receiving Internet Crimes Against
Children (ICAC) task force and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) tips. The ICAC
and DHS tips identified two unrelated individuals using different IP addresses in the
City of Sterling, which indicated possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Detectives worked diligently to quickly identify the suspects and their locations.
Search warrants were obtained, revealing numerous instances of predatory behavior,
including internet discussions and pornographic material depicting explicit sexual
content between adult males and minor children.
Arrest warrants were obtained, and the suspects were arrested on the following
charges:
34-year-old Christopher Wright, of Sterling:
Sexual Exploitation of a Child - 12 counts (F3)
Internet Exploitation of a Child - 18 counts (F3)
33-year-old David Griese, of Sterling:
Sexual Exploitation of a Child - 3 counts (F3)
Sexual Exploitation of a Child - 3 counts (f4)
Wright remains in custody on a $20,000 cash/surety bond.
Griese remains in custody on a $10,000 cash/surety bond.
Both investigations are ongoing, and more charges are expected.
