In a visit to Iowa Tuesday, President Donald Trump reiterated his support for year-round E15.
“I promised to support E15 all year-round,” Trump said, referring to his campaign. “I am trusting Speaker Mike Johnson, who is great, and Leader John Thune, who is great … to find a deal that works — we’ve got it — for farmers, consumers, and refiners, including small and midsized refiners, in other words to get E15 approved. And they are working on it and they are very close to getting it done.”
“And [they’ll] be sending me a bill very shortly supporting year-round E15, to my desk very quickly, and I will sign it without delay,” the president added amid applause.
Trump’s comments come less than a week after legislation providing for the year-round sale of E15 was left out of the House’s spending package, infuriating biofuel and farmer groups.
Positive responses to Trump’s comments Tuesday were quick to come in. Here’s a closer look.
Iowa Renewable Fuels Association
Formed in 2002, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) brings together Iowa ethanol and biodiesel
producers to foster the development and growth of the state’s biofuels industry through education, promotion, and infrastructure development.
"I think year-round E15 would be President Trump’s singular achievement for farmers if he can push Congress to act,” said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw in a press release. “There are lots of other important issues like tax credits, renewable fuel standard blending levels, and trade, and I don’t want to minimize those. But they are ongoing issues. Year-round E15 represents the one shining light at the end of a very dark tunnel for farmers. Pushing that through would make President Trump the godfather of E15 and I believe farmers would be talking about his feat for years to come.”

Renewable Fuels Association
Since 1981, Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) has been the leading trade association for America’s ethanol industry.
RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper said in a statement Tuesday, “President Trump has always been a strong supporter of E15 because he knows just how important it is to farmers and to consumers looking for lower prices at the pump. He understands that the quickest and surest way to boost the farm economy is to open a vast new market opportunity for grain-based ethanol. We are grateful to President Trump for again voicing his support and calling on Congress to get year-round E15 legislation passed and to his desk immediately.”
Cooper also praised the Iowa House delegation for its E15 advocacy on behalf of the nation’s farmers and ethanol producers. “Representatives Feenstra, Hinson, Miller-Meeks, and Nunn should be commended for their tireless efforts to remove red-tape regulatory barriers and secure year-round market access for lower-cost, cleaner-burning E15.”
USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins
Brooke Rollins has been the secretary of agriculture since 2025.
“Yet again President Trump is honoring his commitment to America’s farmers and energy producers today in Iowa by announcing his support for the nationwide year-round sale of E15,” Rollins said in a statement. “As
Congress continues to work through the details, the President has been clear — get a bill that allows nationwide E15 to his desk, and he will sign it to unleash American homegrown row crops for biofuel use like never before. America’s national security depends on our energy security, and biofuels are a crucial asset that brings more jobs and helps farmers in rural America. This action will allow up to 2 billion more bushels of corn to be consumed domestically.”
