Fort Morgan Police Department – PRESS RELEASE - Abade was advised in Morgan County District Court this afternoon, and his bond was set at $250,000 for these charges.

***********************************************************************

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at approximately 8:23 p.m., the Fort Morgan Police Department received a 911 call from a 13-year-old juvenile reporting that an adult male had exposed himself, grabbed the child, and attempted a sexual assault.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that the suspect, later identified as Abdikadir Abade, 39, had allegedly approached the juvenile and lured the juvenile into an alley, forcibly picked them up, moved them behind a dumpster, and sexually assaulted the child.

Abade was located and arrested shortly after the incident. Following additional investigation, the Fort Morgan Police Department held him without bond on the following charges:

• Second Degree Kidnapping

• Sexual Assault on a Child

• Enticement of a Child

• Harassment

The investigation remains active.

Abade has a documented criminal history involving offenses in multiple Colorado jurisdictions. Court records indicate that in 2020, he was charged in Boulder County with Unlawful Sexual Contact involving a young adult female victim. It appears that this case was ultimately dismissed after he was found incompetent to proceed to trial.

In 2024, Abade was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Indecent Exposure, later pleading guilty to the indecent exposure charge. In 2025, he had cases in multiple jurisdictions and pled guilty to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in both Boulder County and Arapahoe County.

More recently, the Fort Morgan Police Department investigated Abade for failing to register after he listed a Fort Morgan address following his release from a metro-area jail. Investigators determined he was not residing at the registered address and obtained an arrest warrant. Abade was arrested in the Denver metropolitan area and extradited to Morgan County on May 5, 2026.

  • On June 5, 2026, Abade pleaded guilty in Morgan County to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and was released from custody with credit for time served.

  • On June 7, 2026, Fort Morgan Police Department officers cited Abade for Theft and Jaywalking.

  • On June 9, 2026, at approximately 4:27 p.m., officers again arrested Abade after discovering an active Adams County warrant for Failure to Comply on a case that involved charges including Protection Order Violation, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Indecent Exposure. He was booked into the Morgan County Detention Center on that warrant and later released on a $500 personal recognizance bond that had been set in the Adams County case, just over an hour after he was booked in.

According to the investigation, less than three hours after his release from custody, Abade allegedly committed the offenses against the juvenile victim in Fort Morgan.

The Fort Morgan Police Department is asking anyone who may have additional information regarding Abade or similar incidents to contact investigators at (970) 867-5678.

As with all criminal cases, the charges against Abade are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
