The Front Range League announced the formation of the Morgan County Wranglers, a new summer collegiate team that will begin play in June at Eddie Underwood Field (Legion Field) in Fort Morgan.
League officials say the Wranglers are finalizing an agreement with the Morgan County School District and the Fort Morgan Mustangs youth baseball program to bring summer baseball to the area. The team’s name was suggested by Mustangs program leader Josh Langford as a nod to a former minor league club.
Front Range League President Chuck Heeman says the Fort Morgan and Brush area has been on the league’s radar for years and called the new team a chance to create a fun, affordable community asset while providing players, coaches and interns with opportunities to advance their careers.
The Wranglers will be coached by Thomas “TC” Fairfield, currently the associate head coach at Coalinga College in California. Fairfield brings extensive summer collegiate experience, most recently as head coach of the Alameda Merchants in the California Collegiate League. He says the enthusiasm surrounding the team makes Morgan County an ideal place to build something special.
The team is now seeking host families for players and coaches, along with corporate partners, local sales staff and seasonal workers.
Wranglers' players will come from across the United States and, in some cases, internationally. Team officials expect visiting families, opposing teams, and baseball scouts to bring added tourism dollars to Morgan County each summer.
League Commissioner Ken Wilson says collegiate wood-bat baseball provides affordable family entertainment and economic benefits for host communities. The Front Range League begins its second season in June of 2026. More information is available online at wranglersbaseball.com.
