Sterling Fire Department - Just before 10 PM Thursday, June 25, fire crews were dispatched to the 18000 Blk of CR 30 for a residential structure fire.
Parties on-scene reported smoke in the crawl space of the structure. First arriving units found a bi-level home with smoke showing from the eaves. Search and attack crews quickly entered the structure to clear the home of occupants and locate the fire. Another crew laddered up the roof to vent vertically.
Crews were unable to find a source of the fire in the crawl space and moved to the main level, where the fire was located in the wall spaces, which had charged the crawl space and attic with smoke.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire and transitioned to overhaul. No injuries were reported.
The day before, Wednesday morning, June 24, crews were dispatched to I-76 at MM125 for a motor vehicle accident.
Dispatch reported a two-car crash with a single party self-extricated, and another requiring extrication. On arrival, crews found two vehicles, one with major damage and a single occupant still inside.
Medic crews began assessing the patient as the engine company set up and completed extrication. The trapped party was freed from the vehicle and transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
