Six Men Die in Dairy Farm Incident Near Keenesburg

Six people were killed in a dairy farm incident that occurred on Wednesday evening just east of Keenesburg.
According to a news release from the Weld County Coroner’s Office, all were likely killed by gas exposure in a confined space.
Crews from the Southwest Weld Fire District were dispatched to the Prospect Valley Dairy located in the 32000 block of Weld County Road 18 at 6 pm on August 20th. The six men were found dead by first responders, and their bodies were all recovered from the site. One of the victims was a Highland High School student, according to a statement by the Weld County School District RE-9.
Counseling and support services will be made available to students and staff in the district.
According to the Weld County Coroner’s Office, the final causes of death for all six men will be released when autopsies and toxicology results have been completed, as well as the notification of family members.
