PRESS RELEASE - (SOUTH FORK, COLO) - Thursday morning, November 20, 2025, around 7:10 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a school bus on Highway 160, just west of Jackson Street.
The bus was traveling eastbound on Highway 160 near milepost 187 within the city of South Fork on a snow-covered roadway. The school bus driver was attempting to reduce her speed when she began to slide to the right. The school bus left the roadway onto the dirt shoulder, rotated, and collided with abandoned railroad tracks, causing it to overturn onto its driver’s side.
There were 13 juvenile passengers on board. Thankfully, no injuries were reported to the students or the driver.
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash. While investigating this crash, reports of other crashes at the same time emerged.
The Colorado State Patrol urges drivers to use extra caution when traveling during periods of active snowfall, dawn and dusk periods, which are also heavy commute times when temperatures drop and roadways refreeze.
