The Colorado State Patrol, along with Northeast Colorado law enforcement agencies, including the Holyoke Police Department, are warning citizens about yet another texting scam to look out for.
The text comes in as a very legitimate looking posting from the 'State of Colorado', notifying the recipient of payment needed for an outstanding traffic violation, requiring immediate action and payment.
As stated in the media posting from the Colorado State Patrol, the courts will NOT contact you by text message demanding payment. DO NOT CLICK any links or send money.
If you ever receive a text like this, look up the court's official phone number online, and call them directly during normal business hours to verify. WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T TRUST THE TEXT. VERIFY IT.
