Fire crews from Fort Morgan, Brush, and Wiggins were dispatched to the corner of Main Street and Bijou in downtown Fort Morgan for a report of a fire in the kitchen at Cable’s Pub & Grill.
The call came in around 10 am Monday, as Fort Morgan crews were pouring water on the roof, with a small amount of smoke visible, but dissipating.
Units from the Morgan County Ambulance Service, along with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Morgan Police Department, were on scene to assist and control traffic around the area. Morgan County Public Works Director John Goodman and Fort Morgan City Manager Brent Nation were on hand as well.
Sources say the fire started in the kitchen on the ground floor but spread to the 2nd floor of the 2-story structure. No injuries were reported, as fire crews were ventilating the structure as of the 11 o’clock hour. No exact cause of the fire is known, nor is the extent of the damage.
Businesses near Cable's were evacuated out of precaution. Main Street in downtown Fort Morgan was closed for several hours for the investigation, between Bijou and Beaver, with Bijou blocked between State and Ensign.
