Morgan County Sheriff’s Office - PRESS RELEASE:
Second Degree Assault / False Imprisonment Investigation
On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding an alleged Second-Degree Assault and False Imprisonment.
Based on information developed during the investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant and arrest warrants in connection with the case. Due to the nature of the allegations and the circumstances involving the individuals associated with the investigation, the Northeast Regional SWAT Team was contacted to assist with the safe execution of the search warrant. The search warrant was served on August 19, 2026.
Following the execution of the search warrant, one individual was taken into custody and held on charges related to the investigation.
Names are not being released at this time because additional individuals are being sought in connection with this case. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and releasing additional information at this time could interfere with investigative efforts.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all of the agencies and personnel who assisted with this investigation and the execution of the warrants. Their professionalism, teamwork, and cooperation helped ensure the operation was carried out safely and efficiently.
Additional information will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the ongoing investigation.
