A 46-year-old man was seriously injured in a collision involving an electric scooter and a vehicle in Yuma.

The Yuma Police Department says the crash happened Friday, October 16th at the intersection of Highway 34 and Cedar Street.

According to investigators, the scooter operator was traveling southbound on Cedar Street while a vehicle was turning northbound onto Cedar Street from Highway 34.

The man operating the scooter was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

An investigation determined the scooter operator was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic at the time of the collision. Police say his lane position was a contributing factor in the crash.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.

The Yuma Police Department recently put out a post informing residents in the city limits of Yuma about the recently passed Municipal Ordinance establishing regulations for the operation of e-bikes and scooters. Yuma City Council passed Ordinance No. 12 on October 20, 2026, establishing those regulations, which include obeying all traffic laws, helmet requirements, and more. Those regulations are now being enforced, as violations may result in fines up to $100 per violation. Ride and drive SAFE!
