As the calendar turns over to the new year, the Sterling Tigers are ready to return to action and resume the winter season.
Girls basketball will tip off our 2024 coverage, when they host Liberty Common on Wednesday night at 6 pm. The Lady Tigers finished December at 3-3, most recently defeating Brush on the road 44-34. The Tigers three losses were all to teams that made deep playoff runs a year ago, and will hope that the strong early-season schedule pays dividends as league play begins over the coming weeks.
Sterling Boys basketball will also begin play on Wednesday, at Liberty Common at 7. Our first broadcast for the boys will be on the road Friday, when they seek to avenge last year's shootout loss to the Highland Huskies. The Tigers are 4-2 out of the break, also winning their final game of 2023 against brush 67-40.
Finally, Sterling wrestling will resume competition on Thursday, with a trip to Highland as well. The Tigers will have a weekend tournament at Valley on Saturday as both boys and girls teams look to come out strong from the break and have about 6 weeks to get tuned up for postseason brackets.
